Fernando Dominguez is a dedicated and multifaceted professional in the world of performing arts, currently serving as the Orchestra Director for Pinewood Bowl Performing Arts. He is also a Lighting Field Service Technician for Heartland Scenic Studio. With a rich background in music, theater, and technical production, Fernando has played pivotal roles in numerous successful productions.
Fernando grew up in Nebraska City, NE, famously known as the home of Arbor Day. His journey in the design arts began at the age of 10 when he started designing animated Christmas light shows after being inspired by watching "The Great Christmas Light Fight" on TV. Sitting in the living room, he declared, "I want to do that," and what started as a passion project has now blossomed into a thriving career. He didn't stop at just lighting; his passion for the arts continued to grow as he joined band and became thoroughly involved in sound for school events.
In college, Fernando worked on diversifying his talents, heavily engaging in Event Planning and Management, Sound Design and Engineering, Set Design, Light Design, and Music Direction. Often taking on multiple roles at once, he embraced every opportunity to expand his skill set. While most focus on a single department, Fernando chose all of them, gaining a unique standpoint that allows him to see from multiple departments' viewpoints.
As a Lighting Field Service Technician for Heartland Scenic Studio, Fernando is involved in installing, servicing, maintaining, and training on lighting systems nationally in schools, churches, performing arts spaces, arenas, and much more. He also delves into permanent art installations, combining his technical expertise and creative vision to bring lasting artistic works to life. His role involves collaborating with artists and designers to ensure that each installation is executed flawlessly, enhancing public spaces with captivating visual experiences.
Fernando is also an accomplished musician, performing in pit orchestras and traditional concert settings on tuba, percussion, and bass guitar. He has led music direction for various musicals, further showcasing his versatility and commitment to the performing arts.
While Fernando works professionally on most jobs, he is also deeply committed to working in educational environments. There is nothing more gratifying for him than watching someone still learning see what they can make happen in the world around them. His dedication to education is evident in his involvement with various school productions and his ongoing efforts to mentor and guide students in the performing arts.
